존재의 계절 (2013-2016)

세상의 모든 외적으로 주어진 아이덴티티와 시시각각 변화하는 상황들을 벗어나 인간존재의 근본적인 의미는 과연 어디에서 찾아야할까? 인간을 가장 인간답게 만드는 것에 대한 탐구는 인간의 감성에서부터 시작되어야 하지 않을까싶다. 그 어떤 외적인 요소들과 상황과 상태도 인간을 끝없는 삶의 희노애락으로부터 자유롭게 하지 못하는 것은 인간의 내적인 구성자체가 지닌 불완전한 속성 때문일 것이다. 그 불완전함이야 말로 끝없이 갈구하는 인간의 삶의 근원이라고 할 수 있으며 또한 사람과 사람을 이어주는 공통적인 체험이기도 하다. 이러히 자신과 타인과의 연결된 관계들을 통해 사람들은 각자의 삶의 의미를 구축해 나아간다. <존재의 계절>은 희노애락이라는 인간의 기본적인 마음상태를 사계절에 비유하여 표현하고 있다. 희망과 즐거움은 존재의 봄날과도 같이, 사랑과 열정은 뜨거운 여름처럼, 갈등과 대립은 서늘한 가을로써, 그리고 슬픔과 아픔은 차가운 겨울을 암시한다. 하나의 계절을 지나지 않으면 다음 계절이 찾아오지 않는 것처럼 사람의 마음 또한 끝없이 변화하며 순환을 계속하고 있다. 

Season of Being (2013-2016)

Beyond all external differences and changing social situations, what is it that essentially makes a human being a human being? Perhaps what brings people together as humanity is our very capacity to feel and relate to others. Nothing from the world can ever set a person free from undergoing recurrent joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure in life. Perhaps humanity's inner structure is innately incomplete in nature, and this very inner incompleteness fuels endless human endeavors. At the same time, it also enables people to connect through shared experiences, as each individual finds meaning and fulfillment through a matrix of human relationships. Season of Being embodies the metaphor of four seasons to express fundamental human states of being. Hope and happiness represent the spring of being; passion and pleasure, the summer; anger and conflict, the autumn; sadness and grief, the winter. Just as one season ripens and changes into the next season, a person's state of being continuously changes in an endless cycle of life.
