<8시가 되면 우린 박수를 쳐요!>

2020년 3월 16일, 프랑스에서 격리가 시작된 첫날, 소셜네트워크에 8시가 되면 모두 창가와 발코니로 나와 간호인들에게 박수를 보내자는 내용이 공유되었다. 이 이례적인 사태를 목격하고픈 열망과 사람들에게 가까이 다가설 수 있다는 희망, 그리고 현 상황에 대한 낙관적인 태도를 유지하면서, 내가 거주하는 바뇰레에서부터 첫 번째 박수의 장면을 촬영하기 시작했다. 밤의 조명을 이용하여 거리 곳곳의 불규칙한 환경에서 촬영하기는 쉽지 않았다. 거의 10주간 이어진 격리 기간 동안, 매일 밤 발전해가는 사람들의 박수를 촬영했다. 겨울에서 여름으로 변해가는 장면이 이어졌다. 메시지도 담겼다. 간호인들에 대한 감사가 이어졌다면, 누군가는 공공 병원에 더 많은 지원을 요청했을 것이며, 냄비의 소음이 박수갈채를 대신했을 것이다.

At 8 o'clock, we clap!

the first day of confinement (started on March 16, 2020 in France), social networks called for the applause of the caregivers, from our windows and balconies, at exactly 8 p.m. Desiring to witness this extraordinary period, but wanting to stay close to the people, and to keep some optimism about the situation, I naturally released my camera from the first applause, starting with my neighborhood in Bagnolet. The moment was furtive, the night lighting complicated, and the uneven environments from one street to the other. During almost ten weeks of confinement, I left every night, noting the evolution of applause. Light first, from winter to summer. But also, the messages: if recognition for the caregivers was still present, some people asked for more resources for the public hospital, and the sound of the pots replaced the applause.
