<보내지 않은 편지>

<보내지 않은 편지>는 팬데믹 기간 동안 뉴욕에 살고 있던 한 아시아 기록 보관 담당자(아키비스트)가 겪은 경험을 서술하는 에세이 형식의 영상 작업이다. 이 작품은 COVID-19와 격리가 미국에서 살고 있는 동양인 남성에게 실질적으로, 또 정신적으로 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는지 보여준다. 

이 작품은 영상일기, 박물관 기록, SNS 채팅과 같은 일상적인 이미지들로 이루어진다. 작가는 이를 통해 코로나바이러스가 야기한 금지령, 증오 범죄와 같은 사회적인 문제들과 판데믹 이후, 개인들이 받아들이는 루머와 진실에 대해 논하고자 한다.

2020년, 트럼프 대통령은 왕관처럼 생긴 이 바이러스를 “보이지 않는 적” 이라 칭했다. 코로나바이러스가 유행하는 기간동안 사재기, 온라인 통신, 다양한 사회적 제재들이 사람들을 무장하도록 만들었으며, 미국에서 미디어가 갖는 선전적인 위력(propaganda power)은 전례 없이 강해졌다. 이 영상은 이러한 힘들의 네트워크와 은유적으로 표현한 시각적인 경험을 나타내는데 중점을 두고 있다. 

< The Unsent Letter >

The unsent letter is an essay film.

It narratives some experiences encountered by an Asian archivist who was living in New York during the pandemic. The film reveals how COVID-19 and quarantine affects an Asian man’s real life and his spiritual world in US. 

The film is based on daily images such as video diaries, museum archives, and social chats.

And it discusses different social issues caused by the Covid-19, such as the pandemic prohibition, the hate crimes and the individual’s perception of rumor and truth in a post-pandemic world.

In 2020, Trump called the new crown virus an "invisible enemy". During the epidemic, the storage of food, the use of Internet communications, and various social bans have also made personal lives militarized, also the media’s propaganda power has been unprecedentedly strengthened in US. This film also focuses on the networks of these invisible powers and presents a metaphorical visual experience.
