줌, 클릭, 왈츠

<줌, 클릭, 왈츠>는 개별적인 프레임 안에 격리된 다양한 “행위(performance)”를 하는 개인들을 그려내는 멀티미디어 설치 작업이다. 이 작업은 락다운(Circuit Break) 기간 동안 이웃들과 소통하기 위하여 시작되어 춤을 통해서 개인들이 연결되는 상상으로 발전했다. 

2개월이 넘는 기간 동안 주민들은 우편을 통해 30분 간격으로 퍼포먼스를 수행하라는 안내지침을 받았다. 그 지침들은 때로는 효과적으로 수행되었으나 또 한편으로는 무시되기도 하였다. 

어떤 주민들은 의식적이고 적극적으로 퍼포먼스를 수행하기도 하고, 뜨뜻미지근한 반응을 보여주는 등 각각 참가자들의 반응은 능동적인 모습에서부터 수동적인 모습에 이르기까지 다양하게 관찰되었다. 

미디어에서 발견되고 보여지는 이러한 개별적인 흔적들은 해석과 협상, 진실과 거짓, 수행하는 것과 우연적인 것 사이의 간극에서 하나의 결점도 존재하지 않는 이상하고도 매끄러운 현실로 포장된다.

Zoom, click, waltz

Zoom, click, waltz is a multimedia installation depicting individuals in various states of “performance”, while isolated within separate window frames. What began as an attempt to communicate with neighbors during Circuit Break, developed into an envisage of individuals connecting through dance.

Over a period of 2 months, residents received mailed instruction requests to perform at an interval spanning 30 minutes. These recordings were at times effective, others, futile.

Various subjects’ responses range from active to passive; with individuals participating in modes of conscious performance, and others nonchalant, in contemplation. Juxtaposed and interspersed alongside found media, separate footages are stitched together to form an uncanny, seamless reality situated in the inter-spaces between interpretation and negotiation, truth and fiction, performativity and chance.
